PeeWee Lower Girls #2 Quotes from the Cookies

After long and careful deliberation among the members of the team, the WPC lower peewee girls #2 basketball team chose to call themselves "The Cookies," coincidentally while decorating Christmas cookies during the team’s Christmas party in December.

The girls were interviewed to get a glimpse of their experiences playing basketball so far this season. Here are some of their responses:

"How do you like basketball?"

Lauren: "It’s fun."

Jenna: "It’s fun and exciting."

Kristen: "I like it! I like to scrimmage and play games because I like to try to take the ball away from the other team, and plus, it’s fun!"

Noelle: "I like it because I got to meet new friends and get to scrimmage against other teams in practice."

Alisa: "It’s fun!"

"What have you learned, and what do you enjoy the most?"

Lauren: "I like shooting at the games, and seeing my friends."

Kristen: "I learned how to try to grab the ball and try to not get into a jump ball, and how to fake passes, and how to bounce pass. I like shooting and stealing balls the best!"

Noelle: "I have learned a lot of things! I have learned all of the positions like point guard, wing, and the rest of them. I enjoy scrimmaging the most."

Jenna: "You can’t shoot the ball in the other person’s basketball hoop. I enjoy shooting the most."

Alisa: "I learned drills. I enjoy shooting and being in the game, except when I’m tired: Then, I want to be out of the game. And I LOVE snacks!

Coach Jimmy Shiba’s goal this season for the team has been for the girls to learn some fundamentals of the game, but more importantly, to learn more about Jesus Christ while learning to just enjoy the game of basketball. "I wanted to see each girl be able to touch the ball several times each game. I think they’re having fun, and they’re learning a lot, too. It’s been a good experience."
